Post Treatment Care
Skin care after procedures goes up just a few notches. Or it will all be in vain.
The various procedures that have become availalbe in recent years is constantly expanding and improving and the majority of them are non invasive and also relatively painless.
The motivation behind getting these treatments is that you would like to be blemish free and appear ageless, so why ruin it all with sloppy after care.
Caring for your skin after treatment:
Mother always said that the three most important words to remember are moisturise, moisturise, moisturise. And she wasnt wrong.
Especially with aging, the skin loses alot of it’s elasticity because moisture is absent. Some of the treatments will replace lost collagen and use various fillers to help eradicate some of the lines that age and a modern lifestyle bring with them, but the onus is on you to prevent your skin from drying out.
After any treatment, when you are able to wash your face it should be with a soap free cleanser, and the skin should be moisturised. In the case of a chemical peel where the skin will peel away leaving you with new skin, you may find yourself moisturising more than 10times a day while healing takes place.
A few more things to remember:
- If you find that skin makes a scab or peels, consult your doctor and get an antiseptic ointment, DO NOT pick at your skin
- Do not rub your face when washing, avoid the full force of a shower.
- Avoid the sun, but if your are unable to use a good sunscreen and wear a hat to keep your face in the shade.
- Try to sleep on you back to prevent skin rubbing on the pillow.
- If you experience any swelling after a procedure try sleeping on your back on an extra pillow the elevation will help the swelling go down a little quicker.
